[This review comes to us from one of our readers (thank you!), a Mexican living in Toronto. The opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of A Falta de Pan Tortillas since we did not personally visit the restaurant]
The murals on the walls use a few basic colors to depict different scenes and motifs of life in, and symbols of, Mexico. It is a low key, casual and friendly place. Their specialty are Tacos of many different meats and vegetables.
When you order, you will receive your tacos one by one so that “they don’t get cold” according to one of the Mexican owners. As you take a bite, you realize that every taco includes all the flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. You can’t help but wonder how is it possible that, being so far away from Mexico, they are able to accomplish such similar flavors as back home. One of their secrets is that they bring the corn directly from Oaxaca, and they process it themselves fresh every day to make Masa. They use the same process of nixtamalization used in Mexico to make the tortillas.
The Fish Taco is delicious, each piece of fish fried to perfection, and their house salsas are delicious! They have many varieties of tacos, for every taste. They also have Sopes and other Mexican staples in the menu. And their Tres Leches cake….yumm!! The staff and owners are very friendly and it is always a delight to come eat here.
If you are ever in the Toronto area, I highly recommend you visit this excellent Mexican restaurant!
